The Benefits of Modular Tiny Homes

If you’re on the fence about whether you want to buy a modular tiny home, here are some benefits to think about that might just be the deciding factor.

Quality control – Since modular homes are generally built in a controlled factory setting, it means that every module is constructed in the same way, to the same standards. They are built with more consistency than site built homes that are prone to defects and variations.

More environmentally friendly – By virtue of their small size, tiny homes are green homes. They require less materials and they use less energy to operate HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. Adding to that, less building materials are wasted both in the construction and installation of modular homes. Modular homes are known for energy efficiency with better-sealed seams, enhanced durability and they are more likely to be built with sustainable materials.

Quicker to buildModular homes are much faster to build than regular homes since they’re built indoors in a factory, allowing for a quicker construction process that isn’t subject to delays due to bad weather or poor site conditions. Since they’re built in sections, when they’re delivered they can already be 80 to 90 percent complete, leaving an assembly process on site of just days or weeks.

Lower operating costs – Since tiny homes are so small it doesn’t take much to heat or cool the house, which translates to lower utility costs. Having less appliances, a smaller HVAC system, and in general, less of everything also means less chance of things going wrong and, consequently, lower maintenance costs.

Portability – Tiny homes are moveable, and that’s especially the case if it’s a tiny home on wheels. That’s one of the most beautiful things about tiny homes. If you want to, for example, live in Ottawa you’re not restricted to searching just for houses for sale in Ottawa, you have a much larger area to search for existing homes. Then if you plan on relocating, you can simply move your whole home instead of having to buy a new one.

Customization – Modular tiny houses can be customized with different layouts, finishes and features more cost effectively than traditional building.
