It’s no secret that the transportation industry is by far one of the worst as far as pollution is concerned, and DP World may have been one of the largest culprits. Whether we’re talking about trains, boats, or airplanes, these modes of transportation all release various greenhouse gases and chemicals into the environment. Transportation has for a long time been under direct fire by sustainability advocates, and it seems like some companies are now starting to turn the tide. DP World recently received LEED’s V4 Gold Certification for one of its container operations facilities in Vancouver. Let’s find out exactly what this means.

DP World has one underlying strategy guiding their sustainability efforts, “Our World, Our Future”. The underlying tenet of this motto is to reduce carbon emissions, provide positive contributions to local communities, and to improve overall energy efficiency in all possible aspects.

Recently, the efforts of DP World have not gone unnoticed, with one of their COFs or container operations facilities in the Port of Vancouver having received the LEED v4 Gold certification. This is an award provided by the Canada Green Building Council, and it illustrates that DP World appears to be on the right track as far as eco-friendly transportation solutions are concerned.

DP World Modernizes an Old Container Facility

The container facility was a heritage structure that was over a century old, and consequently had a litany of issues in terms of energy efficiency and waste. It took several years for DP World to convert the facility into a state-of-the-art container operations facility with plenty of new innovations.
