NOHFC funding Dryden Recreation Centre Retrofits

Community gathering

The Dryden Recreation Centre is being provided with $239,216 through the NOHFC or Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for renovations and sustainable retrofits. This funding will be used to install new emergency exits and dehumidifiers, as well as skate-resistant flooring in communal spaces.

A portion of the funding will also be directed towards updating circulation and heating systems for more energy-efficient models. This happens to be the last phase in the infrastructure plan of Dryden aimed at addressing various major mechanical and technical issues of the facility as well as to expand it.

NOHFC Investments Since 2018

The NOHFC has invested over $835 million in 6,713 projects throughout northern Ontario since June 2018. It has also managed to leverage over $2.4 billion in investment while either creating or sustaining well over 10,000 new jobs.

“We are thankful for the support from NOHFC through the Community Enhancement Program for our project, which will help address several deficiencies and extend the life of our beloved community recreation complex, said Dryden’s mayor Jack Harrison. “This investment preserves the facility for future generations while keeping it accessible and appealing to all members of our community, thereby increasing participation and ensuring it remains inclusive and affordable.”
