Sustainable Buildings Canada (SBC) is hosting their annual Green Building Festival at Toronto’s Downtown Marriott on October 5. Given the current pandemic situation, attendees will have the option of attending in person or virtually.
The conference is intended for sustainable building practitioners and industry partners. Participants will receive certifications for continuing education hours.
This year’s theme is “Shockproof Your Project,” a response to the global threats of both COVID-19 and climate change. According to the conference description, programming “will explore intersectional designs and solutions to shockproof your project at all scales.”
They state:
“…if climate change is like a tumultuous tide, COVID-19 is like a quick, fierce tsunami. It foreshadows the acceleration of change that we will be facing and reminds us: we need to prepare for shock profiles both rapid and sustained.”
Featured Topics and Presenters
Festival speakers include Danny Pearl of l’ŒUF (l’Office de l’Éclectisme Urbain et Fonctionnel), who will speak about his Demain Montréal Project. Eladia Smoke and Chen Cohen will discuss “Two-Eyed Seeing” and their Centennial College A-Block Expansion Project.
